Exit surveys, engagement surveys, and onboarding surveys can provide some useful insight, but they often focus on information that is based on an experience from the recent past, or it is too late to do anything with in terms of retaining employees. Finding out why employees STAY can provide especially useful insights into what helps motivate employees to continue working for your department. In this session, information from over 1,200 stay interviews conducted within one EMS agency will be presented, and how stay interviews can be implemented in other departments to improve employee retention.
